At today’s TC39 meeting, #SmooshGate was resolved by renaming `flatten` to `flat`.

That’s a weird argument to make: `split` is a string method, not an array method. And other string methods such as `.replace('a', 'b')` only replace one occurrence by default. (It replaces all when you pass a global regular expression, but not by default.)
string.replace() changing only one occurrence unless you go through the trouble of making a regular expression is an inconvenience, and I don't think it should be seen as an example new features should follow
