Quote by a forest ranger at Yosemite National Park on why it is hard to design the perfect garbage bin to keep bears from breaking into it: “There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.”

If I were more of a salesman, I would propose a cryptocurrency-based solution. In any case, I'm always happy to propagate true facts shared by public servants.

I always use Bitcoin to protect my food from bears camping in the High Sierra.

Everyone has got this backwards. See only humans kill when they're not hungry. If you see a bear (sans cubs), feed it full. It won't care about you after that.

Cats. Also, feeding bears is illegal. You will go to jail. That includes running away and leaving food behind.

This is why Yosemite has learned to focus on opposable thumbs rather than intelligence as the key to secure bear locker latch mechanisms.

If you were at Yosemite, it wasn’t a forest ranger. A National Park Ranger. (still a smart quote tho).
