Things like live-streaming are always framed as “the future”...until they become the temporary present, and at which point everyone realizes “JFC lets please do everything in our power to make sure this isn’t our future”

Like I already feel guilty for how much I have voluntarily stared at nonsense online when I could have been doing literally anything else with groups of people. This involuntary period exposes a lot of online platforms if anything.

Agreed. The flood of live streams has made me even more uninterested in the format. On the other hand, it has shown the value of live radio, which has been a bit of a saviour for me this week.
