Doing research in Saturn/PS1 games, a lot of 3D games uses stuff like that, quite a lot of it is clever, :D
I should definitely dig into more on those consoles. I've done more modeling than bill boarding but I like the 'retroness' of the boards

Yeah, I've been looking into it/researching how the devs make those types of worlds. I should start modelling these worlds myself tbh.

My next goal might be animated boards like you've got with some of those neon signs, that's a neat effect.
