hm, do you have a written description and/or a collection of reference images to describe the mood or tone you wish to create?
Not yet but I'm going to try looking to more Nintendo stuff to get a sense of 'retro cartoon'. Maybe Chex Quest too :p

oh i know, your colors are too reasonable and tasteful! you need to make them brighter and bolder. primary colors will help.

I've considered that, I tried brighter but I should look into complementaries I think. How would a cartoonist would do dirt?
