Too early is any part of the game that can't PROMISE will be in the final product. People will expect it.

Ah yes, often seen this on crowd funding platforms. Maybe keep the initial announcement more general (genre, style)?

Will you launch within the year? What platforms? I honestly think that it is different for every game. Good question.

We're only in pre prod and design so that's a good answer. With indies it's tough between not developed enough vs too late.

Good point, any concern at that point that a compelling/interesting concept could get replicated by another dev before you do?

I think the overall design and art style should be locked in, but other than that as early as possible.

Good point; I like seeing the art evolve but I wonder if other devs or future players would want to see that?
