My roommate tackled most of it solo, though I prefer playing with friends. You can also use the SOS feature to bring in random other players to assist if you get stuck.

I prefer friends but it can be done solo. I did the main story solo but after that the difficulty RAMPS UP! That's when I did it with friends only. Still can be done solo though cause my friends were veterans of the series and they did the whole thing by themselves
