I think I'm really passionate about third person games. I seem to always really enjoy playing them over other types of games, yet when I think of games I want to make I stay away from them. I think I need to convince myself 'I can do it' (aka could actually make one).

I'm the same way with 1st person. I've rarely considered making a 1st person game purely because it doesn't feel innovative, but most of my favorite games are 1st person & also are/were super innovative. EX) DarkForces, HalfLife, Doom, BioShock, Fallout 3/NV, Borderlands, etc...
It's really interesting how our developer side can get in the way of our consumer side. How quickly we can discredit what we like in favor of what we think is a 'better' decision.
