Hearing a lot of people saying Anthem's 'core mechanics are broke' when I don't think they understand what a 'core mechanic' is. If anything, it seems like the majority of the issues are just stacked on top of the core mechanics and the core is barely showing through.

To be fair I haven't played it either haha. There's a lot of complaining that the core is broke because missions are unfulfilling, content is low, or technical aspects are broken or not player friendly. But, many people praise the flight and some praise combat (when it works).
IMO, flight and combat seem to be more core than the missions or tech supporting those aspects. And even fixing something like level-to-level flow to drop loading screens wouldn't be a 'core mechanic'.

I guess I'm just annoyed hearing people say 'it needs to be rewritten from the core up', then comment it 'could be like Destiny or the Division and get better over time'. Those games didn't have core rewrites, they had iteration, refactors, improvements, etc.
