This makes me think that a paranormal version of Etrian Odyssey with a real estate agent trying to figure out the dimensions of a house that seems to bend space time would be a neat premise. (I just realized this could be your current premise but too late send tweet)
Hm, it sounds really similar to House of Leaves which has somewhat inspired me (maybe that's what you're referring to?). In the book, one aspect of the plot is a man measuring his house to find the inside is larger than the outside.

My other inspiration is Metroid and considering what a Metroidvania would be if the world were not spread out but more wrapped in on itself. If paths through the world were less about distance and more about the correct series of movements in a smaller space.
