Hey @LUNARSIGNALS how did you come up with your level themes? Any pre-planning or just jump in and see what gets made?

i think you jump in with the first couple, but then once you get the edges together you fill in the details in relation to them. i don't think i'm going to do a "lava world" and a "desert world", but i am going to do mountains/streams/ponds/forests + dungeons

that's not to say i didn't add weird things. i am stoked for the cloud gear stage, and i think it's a really cool addition. but i think you have to have catch them sleeping on more mundane things for the impact of something spectacular

because there's an implied connection between the mundane things it also implies a connection to the outrageous, and that's a bunch of audience brain gear turning that the greats do wonders with (sup LotR Star Wars GoT WW etc.)

I'm trying to conceptualize these non-traditional set pieces for levels and I have one but haven't got any others. I think your mention of 'lava', 'desert', is interesting because those themes of climate kind of drive the set design in most games.
