It helps to have something pressing to do that you absolutely hate. Then even the worst game dev work feels miles better or like an escape. There's the upside of having to work a horrible day job.
Feeling pretty burnt out lately when it comes to personal game dev projects. I have ideas, and many other games inspire me still, but it’s just like ‘bleh’ when it comes to working on them. How do I fix this?? I’ve tried doing a small jam-like project but still feel it.

I've wondered if my home interests have changed now that I've been doing a game dev day job. But work game and tasks are so different I feel like it shouldn't cause a change in my personal stuff.

I've struggled with that burnt out feel with hobbies too. Things I've found useful: take a break, try new things, work on the projects only when they're fun, set it as hobby B for a while instead of your main one, set a daily or weekly limit for how much you're working on them.

Yeah I've thought about that. I haven't really been doing work on it at all, but it's weird that I'll spend that time on more leisurely things like playing games and I'll feel bad that I'm not working on something. But I know taking a break is needed.
