The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie. An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough. So finish the thing.

Amid all the dunking and jokes to be had, here's a brief reminder that if there was nothing to find at Mar-A-Lago, no one would be shitting themselves and freaking the fuck out right now. We now return you to the epic dunking, already in progress.

True Story: I once held the record for San Antonio's Fastest Sandwich Artist, able to make a perfectly weighted Italian BMT from first cut to fully wrapped in 39 seconds. This might be the dumbest thing I'm still kinda proud of.

Not gonna lie, the fact that Subway did away with the term Sandwich Artist so long ago that it severely dates me is bothering me a bit.

I'm a community college dropout who spent years as a waiter, video store clerk, travel agent, airline sales agent, child care professional, camp counselor, sandwich artist, and hotel front desk clerk. It's not how rocky the road; it's not giving up along the way. You can do this

You guys continue to be awesome. Thanks for keeping THE BLACK PHONE in theaters. It wouldn’t still be there without you.

For those keeping track... THE BLACK PHONE has rang up $148M worldwide on an $18M budget. How about that Joe Hill dark universe? Plenty more 20th Century ghosts to unleash.

A: spending almost every day within 20ft of my wife. Having my dog around constantly. Feeling fulfilled with my work/life balance. Never waste time in my car rather than living life. Finish chores between meetings. No managers peeking in to micromanage/justify their job. Amazing.

I got to hang out with Clu Gulager a number of times over the years. He was just one of those classy, old school Hollywood player types who never lost his "No role is too small" attitude. Charming, funny, talented, kind. He's one that will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Tired: It's like the 5th or 7th PREDATOR MOVIE, depending on how you count. Wired: A fucking dog is one of the main characters and he's one of the best characters of the summer.

Holy hot buttered Christ on a cross! PREY is one mother fucker of a girl and her dog horror/action movie. It is 12 different kinds of badass. Watching it again later tonight. It's about time we start saying out loud that is one of our best working genre directors.

Jess and I are setting up the projector, making a large spread of appetizers and finger foods, and getting ready to watch a double feature of the new Predator movie followed up by a romantic comedy in a Friday we're calling EAT, PREY, LOVE.

Criminal mastermind seeks talented people for heist. Must have a particular set of skills and a desire to see a handful of superhero films and directors cuts from an unnamed studio kept locked away in their vaults. Mark an X in chalk on the wall in the place. You know where.

Life changing moment here. I've looked up to and as storytellers for years and feel honored to be making a film with them. I can't express how excited we are about this story and the people we're working with! Here we go!

I remember GDT's eyes welling with tears as he told me the stories of THE HOBBIT and ATMOM. All of your favorite creatives have heartbreaking tales of the beloved projects that almost were. The mother fucker is that knowing that doesn't make it any easier when it happens to you.

Streamers have been selling us creatives on the virtues of platform exclusivity for some time now. The reason Hollywood is so shook by the HBO Max stories is that no one is sure whether this is an isolated incident or a canary in the coal mine. This isn't just about a few movies.

Streaming exclusive films have upfront payouts as opposed to profit sharing or residuals. Contracts are now coming with buyout clauses if a film intended for theatrical later becomes streaming exclusive instead.

Replying to @Massawyrm
How will that work if anyone had gross income/profit shares in their contract?

That dull roar you're hearing from Hollywood right now is the sound of everyone calling their lawyers and yelling "Wait, the streamers can just fucking do that?" This week just changed the game in a way no one saw coming.

The idea that you could pour a year or more of your life into a project, actually shoot it, get right up to the finish line on it, and then watch it evaporate into the ether for a corporate tax break is a nightmare. I feel so hard for everyone reeling from this right now.

For the first time in decades, I may have to kill a fellow party member in one of my D&D games and I am quite conflicted about that.
