This is true, esp for those of us who study history. The ban on Chinese immigration, limits on S. European immigrants, turning back the German liner, 𝑆𝑡. 𝐿𝑜𝑢𝑖𝑠; the list is almost endless. The shock is, the extent to which, to coin a phrase, how far we have not come.
