A biologist has invented concrete that can heal itself 😱pic.twitter.com/xu00quKaOH

    Healing concrete
Dead concrete infused with bacteria awakens when cracks appear, then produces limestone to fills the cracks in a matter of weeks. The concrete lasts for 200 years and self-activates if damage occurs.

.@GeorgeTakei This is promising… However, all Trekkies are hoping this “concrete that can heal itself“ does not take a turn the way it did on two # StarTrek episodes. Are you feeling me, George? #Horta #TheDevilInTheDark #Excalbian #TheSavageCurtainpic.twitter.com/x1hp13gFPZ

#TheSelfHealingConcreteMechanism: When water enters the #cracks the capsules with #bacteria & calcium lactate, open. The bacteria then germinate, multiply & feed on the lactate combining the calcium with carbonate ions to form #calcite, or #limestone, which closes up the cracks.

Do that with geopolymer/Roman concrete and you're looking at 2000+ years

If bacteria can do amazing things with concrete like this, imagine how imperative it is to the gut and the brain, bc we are more bacteria than we are cells as a human. This is why pesticides and gmos are probably far more harmful than we could ever realize.🤔 #natural

We r already beginning to see the intricate connectedness of the relationship with soil to bacteria w our gut health microbiome etc. So yes genetically modified foods could most certainly kill friendly bacteria along with heaps of other problems. Even stress affects gut flora.
