In Asia, we simply take our shoes off when entering the house

Centuries old solution.
Environmentally sound solution.
For pity’s sake, painfully obvious solution too. -
Hi Lynn, Not to force one culture onto another, just mentioning tgatvit is what we practise in Asia. Cheers.
-
Sir, I thank you! I believe it’s shameful that more folks don’t share the culture & ideas & wisdom we have to offer. Imagine what lifesaving & life-enhancing fullness & joy that would bring to so very many. To life!
-
I believe sharing to learn from each other with the aim to be better is a good thing. In cases like this, it is best to understand the statement of problem and develop a solution that is relevant. If not it becomes a American pen vs Russian pencil story. Cheers!
-
Not even a cultural thing, just common sense! Here across the invisible line in Canada, people take their shoes off in the house.

This would be more justifiable in a healthcare setting as they already use disposable shoe covers (sometimes put on with a dispenser similar to this) for hygiene reasons. However, at home, a simple doormat does the trick. Or simply removing your shoes – good for your feet, too.
-
Doormat then shoes off then sandals used exclusively indoors, that's what we do at home (and shoe covers whenever we have a contractor/handyman coming in.) This contraption is one good way to increase plastic pollution though.
-
Indoor sandals! We never use those in Finland, just socks. Wool socks during winter, or two, depending on how draughty it gets. Do you use the sandals all the time and put them next to your bed when you go to sleep?
-
I sometimes use socks but I prefer sandals since they let air circulate around the toes. It feels much better to wiggle the toes w/o socks. We use socks on winter though. And yep, we take our sandals and put them next to our bed.
-
Oh, it's without socks! Now that sounds more comfortable. Socks AND sandals would be a bit... heavy, wouldn't it?
-
It's asphyxiating to my toes : ) We live in Florida, which is super humid, so just imagine hahahaha

This is the dumbest solution for “just take your shoes off” that I could think of.
-
they don’t even show an actual dirty shoe use it, just brand new ones.

Not sure if you want to keep the floor clean, or end all life in the ocean.

Plastic waste + lawsuits for slip and falls. Product fail.
