How will they stop fast to avoid collisions/keep from running those quick changing intersection lights? Lots of logistics to iron out and the tech for cars to detect each other is still a ways out, older off-line cars especially. Inertia needs a counter force to stop it quickly

Not a good idea because: no brakes. There's a reason to use wheels. Directional movement is good. Also glass sphere, srsly? What about when it collides with anything?
