This concrete heals itself. Repeat: It heals itselfpic.twitter.com/Pn6UiSPjEn

    Healing concrete
Dead concrete infused with bacteria awakens when cracks appear, then produces limestone to fills the cracks in a matter of weeks. The concrete lasts for 200 years and self-activates if damage occurs.

I wonder how strong the resulting concrete is, and if this could help with small, frequent #earthquake repairs.

Until there’s a flood and the bacteria over grows and eats us! It’s too abstract; I need something more concrete.

Looks like modern day version of Roman concrete that has lasted 2000 years thanks to chemical reactions and incorporation of volcanic ash

One question, what if a little kid sticks his finger in a road rack and licks it? Does that mean he will start selfhealing or have a bacterial infection?

Closing a Crack and Creating strength through a repair I think are different ... Limestone is BRITTLE not close to the Density of the Concrete and has NO bind .. It Would not be a good waterproofed because as we see in Nature Limestone CAVES are the Biggest in the World

Now that's cool. Calcite filled veins are commonplace in natural rock. But concrete formulated to create its own crack filling veins? Fantastic

So anyone working in that building will be susceptible to that bacteria and maybe turn into concrete? Maybe that's what happened to that Chinese army they found.
