This vein finder might help physicians get the needle in on the first trypic.twitter.com/wO82LeU7mX

    Vein finder
VeinViewer allows physicians to see beneath a patients skin. It projects near-infrared light that's absorbed by the blood and rejected by the surrounding tissue.

If you are referring to the Vein Finder, you might want to check medical supply houses, or hospitals. One really great nurse used it on me while in hospital, after seeing the black and blue marks left by others.

It’s uncommon for me to have to get poked over 3x trying to find a vein... this would be nice

I recently had surgery requiring spinal anesthesia; it took NINE pokes to get it inserted correctly. To be fair, I've had two spinal fusions & my back is totally messed up but...this looks good to me.

I don't know how helpful it would be. If your trained correctly you shouldn't need it. Rookies that's the easy way out. Sry.

if I have blood drawn out it 's an ordeal, they never get veins. was in hospital, my IV was starting to turn vein red, they tried to switch to other hand, had two nurses trying and eventually gave up left the old one in. They got so flustered they left my arm tied off and left.

Good but I know for a fact that most physicians would prefer not to use it. They have experience and knowledge of where a vein is and how to find it manually without wasting any time on it.

Yes but wouldn't that be a problem later on. I mean if they were trained with this then they won't be natural at finding it without it. They will sort of start depending on it.

While I don’t think that experienced phlebotomists would opt to use the tool, I don’t think that’s necessarily true it would make it impede the learning process. I think of it more as a visual aid. Also consider, everyone’s veins are different.

The elderly and heroin users are notoriously difficult sticks for even the most seasoned phlebotomist. I don’t the tool would be a bad thing to have lying around for those patients either. Healthy veins are usually easy to find, so in those cases I don’t think they’d need it.
