This is not new tech. This has been around for years and doesn’t work. I’d rather use an ultrasound for almost the same price. Ps. The doc usually gets it on the first try because he asks a nurse to start the iv.

Wish they had this back when I was 10. In Germany, I had an Army nurse poke me 20 times on my right arm, until the Dr. came in and did it once on the left. Rolling veins can be painful, when they are determined to get that vein. (I did kick, and bite her after she stopped.

The only time my IV team used one of these things was the only time they had to send me home w/o treatment after hitting their max number of pokes. I'll stick with a trained person doing it the way they have been trained.

Sigh, so when the lights go out and it really counts, our physicians will no longer have the skills to find a vein manually, great idea.

A good phlebotomist doesn't need help to find a vein. Someone who doesn't often give injections such as a doctor, will find this a real boon.

The folks who can “find the vein on the first try” are the expert phlebotomists and surgical nurses who do this for a living.

I used to get called to the wards when they were having IV trouble & no CC nurse was available - in some instances would have liked this.
