Surely the main reason for removing the option of replaceable batteries is to force people to buy new phones when the battery dies?

You’re confusing user-replaceable and serviceable.

so they can slowdown your phone and make you buy a new one

I have a LG V20 which offers a premium design, was a top phone in 2017 and has removable battery. It can be done. This sorta falls in line with the headphone jack removal discussion. Another "improvement" that thus far has not improved anything but "company X's" bottom line.

The premise of this article is absurd. In a Capitalist market system the customer will always make this decision. So never say never. For the record removable batteries became extinct because of portable battery packs and USB charging.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3ZUbSL--G8 …

Of course not as NOW they can slow down your phone when they want, kill the battery and charge high cost to replace

Sucks really because my note 5 which is only a year old needs the battery replaced now and I can't just buy one and swap it out.
