These plates are made entirely from leaves 🍃pic.twitter.com/FTnyCUgD1z

    Leaves plates
A German company is producing disposable plates entirely made out of leaves as an alternative to plastic packaging. One plate, on average, costs around 50 cents and is 100% biodegradable.

This has been prevalent in India for centuries. Still used, not only in rural but also urban events for community meals ,more common for religious gatherings, weddings and temple feasts.

Yes.. In Karnataka, India this is what we use for meals during festivals. This is an age old tradition in India. Not much popular though mostly used in orthodox families. But proud to be using it since long. This should become more popular though to get rid of plastic completely.

Good to see. Plastic revolution made these century old Indian practices obsolete. Other good ones are banana leaf plate, clay cups etc.
