if you're in south London there's a long established unpackaged non-shop near Elephant and Castle https://fareshares.org.uk/

I’m pretty certain ‘scoop shops’ have been around for ages

What did shops in London use before plastic was invented? Not really a ‘first’.

It’s not a new idea by a long way. Bath had/has ashop like this since the mid-1980s

I’ve lived in several places where they had what were called ‘scoop shops’ & before we had plastic, nothing ever came in plastic obviously, so not a new idea, but still a good thing nonetheless

I think this is (for the moment) just a drop of water in the ocean. Plastic pollution is a global issue, it will take decades for such innovation to be spread all over the world.

That’s irrelevant those objects will be used for the lifetime of the shop if not more. It’s single use packaging that is the problem.

Whats the logic of demonizing single vs multiple use? This isn't cost-benefit analysis, it's moralizing.

Big question: how much do the charge for this wonderful way of shopping, is it % cheaper to take account of lack of packaging?

Everything old is new again! It's wonderful. Food used to be displayed in baskets and people shopped with hand sewn sacks. Love it and love your updates like the huge glass dispensers! The food looks amazing too!
