    In a first step towards tackling overheating, The city of Los Angeles is painting black asphalt roads with a white reflecting coating. It has been proven to reduce temperatures significantly.

        Wouldn't it also cause surfaces to ice up faster and stay wet/slick longer? Black asphalt roads thaw, defrost and dry much faster than lighter colored surfaces. Would be horrible in places like NYC.

        Saving money on Air conditioning by painting roads White; you gotta be joking! That would be expensive as hell! A great effort to reduce overheated roads and curbing warm climates indeed but this comes at a very high price!

        Oh and, yes roads are dirty, but you don't have to paint over the dirt, you can wash it :/ Or let the rain do it.

        And I live in a city where all our construction come from a stone black as hell called "Volvic stone", so for places and walls and pavement we use white coating & lot of trees
