Biologist invented bio-concrete that can heal itselfpic.twitter.com/qcmcWSMIPq

    Healing concrete
Dead concrete infused with bacteria awakens when cracks appear, then produces limestone to fills the cracks in a matter of weeks. The concrete lasts for 200 years and self-activates if damage occurs.

Would something like this work for asphalt as well? Imagine having roads heal themselves too! #ecofriendly #environment #innovation #Science

What about cracks on top of fixed cracks? Will it continue to heal itself or just one time in same spot?

Chalk me up as a naysayer. Animations are easy. Where is the Ca in the CaCO3 coming from? If it works, drainage would likely clog pipes.

Ca is an ingredient in all the cement portion of any concrete, even the conventional type.

How do you keep up the compressive strength with no aggregate? Or is just some of it replaced with the hollow spheres?
