"How sustainable!", said no one ever... Slippers, mate, slippers will do the trick just fine.

No. Just no footwear at all.

Don't want dirt on their feet
-
Won't be dirt on their feet if they don't bloody wear shoes inside xD
-
Why make extra work for yourself and have to mop, when you can simply take your shoes off at the door? :P
-
People still mop even when they don't wear shoes in the house
-
True, but tracking mud and dirt in every day just makes it have to happen more often.

Isn't is more environmental friendly to just take off your shoes ? Billions of ppl in Asia do that
-
It isn't just Asia most of the ppl in the world do it...
-
Its a stupid invention yes, but its actually rude to just take your shoes off in any one else's home but your own, dont jump to conclusions.
-
I would consider it rude if someone came to my house and didn't take off their shoes. Different cultures man
-
Where I'm from it's not even a sign of respect you just always take you shoes off when entering a house unless hosts tell you not to
-
Or... I'm just taking a guess here. Or... You can simply ask the homeowner, "Shall I take my shoes off?" Then do as the owner asks. JS

-
Obviously...tf?! We are just saying how it's usually done.
