    A team of researchers from from Britain’s University of Portsmouth and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory made an enzyme that can eat up plastic bottles.

        Yup but without proper logistics from a waste collection point of view, even that part what people dispose of "properly" is still at risk of getting into our environment. People "trust" govs to do it, but they don't because it is all about money. Some countries better than others

        Haha. Not just you. I checked myself for responding with alarm. I think it's the "created something" combined with the "accidentally" and the history of introducing exotic species to deal with pests we've created. One example: cane toads.
