These are pince-nez glasses. They're supported by pinching the bridge of the nose, w/o earpieces. Pincer "to pinch" & nez, "nose". They were used in the 15th - 19th C. The modern versions (C & Spring camps), introduced c. 1840. They peaked in popularity b/t 1880 & 1900.
