    CeramicSpeed has unveiled a prototype of a chainless bike. The company claims that its drivetrain creates 49% less friction comparing to traditional chain and derailleur drivetrains.

        Inside the cardan there is a worm screw that moves the rear gearbox forward or backward by changing gears.

        Ok thanks. Do you think new bikes will use this method going forward? I bet professional riders would like these cause there’s no chain to mess up.

        I don't know, probably not. This is already under pending patent. Now, think about motorbikes. How much of them builds bikes with cardan. Only BMW Motorrad in some models. Maybe cardan transmission is more expensive than chain transmission.
