With the melting glaciers, what mechanism maintains the ocean temperature as we directly add the heat load of these data centers?
-
-
-
The heat from dozens of thousands of underwater datacenters would be too small to be even noticeable in the global temperature.
-
Do you have any links to the expected heat load? Reading about project Natick, so far havent found this data.
-
It appears that the savings alone on the wasted energy required to cool a data center on land, far outweighs any added heat load to the lower depths of the ocean with this concept..."cool" idea Microsoft, I hope it pans out!

My thoughts as well, radio hardened data center under several meters of water. Should be easy to turn off when the AI goes rogue right?

Um ... I'm thinking no one should know where these centers are. Under water is a good idea. Unseen. Black site ... of sorts.

And not hindered by legislation, like GDPR.. which might be the main reason to build them in International seas...
