    Asphalt is so 20th centurypic.twitter.com/zzAIPFJhnZ

    Plastic roads
Construction company, VolkerWessels, is using recycled plastic bottles to pave the roads. Lightweight and easily installed, the roads are built to last three times longer.

Hmmm...well asphalt is the worst in temperate climates because it expands and contracts so much through seasons = NY streets are terrible.

If the road sections are made from oil based plastic,To cover all roads would deplete all the words oil reserves. How would you then make replacements for repairs we are try to get rid of plastic in the environment not potentially make things worse

Which explains why the roads are filled with potholes and are atrocious to drive on. Roads these days are very cheaply built.

Does it? They made many roads with concrete using a similar concept many years ago. "oh you can replace sections...." Sure, until people try saving money by filling them in with asphalt.

There's a bridge near me where there are so many potholes in it, they thing is patched w/ so much asphalt unevenly that I'm waiting to see WHEN this bridge will break apart. Near 343 exit on PA Turnpike. I hate driving over it it looks that badly maintained. It needs 2b replaced

I should have stated that I live in the UK. The roads are absolutely atrocious hear. The council do a terrible job of repairing and building roads.

It's almost comforting to know that both our countries are just as inept with the money we give them.

This would solve a ton of issues on plastic pollution and pot holes - says she who has a bad lower back/right hip after juddering over a pot hole while cycling 13 years ago. Glasgow roads are pitted like the bloody moon.

So we should continue drinking from plastic bottles, because otherwise we cannot build roads? Wouldn't it better to use reusable bottles instead of downcycling the plastic?

But plastic is worse for the environment. Im not much of a "save the earth" guy, but plastic is really bad for the environment. I honestly think dirt roads would be better.
