Ummm they weren't watching their kid. I'm a parent and if I'm bringing my son to a gallery you bet your ass he's right by my side.

Sounds like both are at fault. Parents should pay a fee but not 132k

I'm glad they know the value associated with fine things and respect art. I'm not exactly sure how an art museum became a day care center. Wtf is wrong with these people? Child rearing is a parent's job, not the museum's. Everything can't be solved by saying you're a "mom."

This was at a community centre however community center or museum, you are responsible for your children. This was not a playground! I’ll bet if he was injured the parents would be suing right?

Of course the parents should be held responsible. I can guarantee that if the area was roped off, the kid would've just gone under or over the rope. A 5-year-old should know better, too.

The telling part was when it tipped and the kid held it up for a while -- and no one noticed. He tried to put it back, and it fell. LONG before my kid was running around a museum (!), I'd have glanced to see where he was?

Eh, that is the parent’s fault. I do agree that the museum should of done a better job protecting the statue from this very thing but the kids are completely by themselves.

Just think if it would have squashed him they could have sued

And where is the insurance policy, oh yeah, you have to remain compliant and protect works of art. Why not just put it on the curb?

Pretty sure parents are supposed to teach their children to respect the property of others... In homes, in stores, in museums and community spaces, etc.
