Come on, Elon is throwing this out there for a government contract. My question is why hasn't anyone reached out to other manufactures to produce necessary items? I mean, this is a crises. China built a hospital in 10 days, why can we make ventilators?
A big ventilator company in the US says they can ramp up production 500% but the government has placed no orders.

Why don't the freaking hospitals order them? I'm not a trump fan at all, but wtf do they need his permission? Or are they more concerned about getting paid right now? Some bullshit! People don't do things in good faith anymore or what?

They may be concerned about paying their doctors, nurses, technicians, custodians and clerical workers who are risking their lives to treat people.

Seems like they could just start making them knowing the demand is there. It’s not like cost companies just wait around to start making coats after demand picks up. They know winter is coming. So the make them first.

Their suppliers need to be paid for parts & material used in manufacture. Employee workforce expanded to additional shifts. It's not so simple as 'they should just make more'.
