Carie Lam says she hopes medical staff won't strike because those who'll ultimately suffer will be patients & the medical system. Perhaps she doesn't realise that the medical personnel calling for the strike are making the point that w/o a border closure, everyone suffers.
Reporter q to Lam: you say we shouldn't close border to mainland Chinese bc that would be discriminatory, and yet yesterday the govt asked foreign domestic workers to stay home even on their days off. How do you square that?
Lam gives a non-answer: says she wasn't aware until now of Labour Dept's advise to foreign domestic workers to stay home, but that she'd interpret it as being in the best interests of the workers and a form of social distancing to curb disease spread
Reporter q: will it take a death in HK for you to close the border with China? Eerily similar to questions asked during pressers in past months re: how many deaths it'll take before the govt responds to the five demands.
One reporter just rapid-fired at Lam and asked Lam if she'd apologise to the grannies who've had to queue overnight for masks. Burn.https://twitter.com/hkwuliff/status/1223186498196893696 …
She abandoned any sense of logic months and months ago
