New statistics! In 2020, 7.2% of "arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media occupations" workers (that's us!) had a union. In 2021, 8.1% did. Average non-union pay: $63,180. Average union pay: $79,664. That's the union difference.

A rule that at least 50% of applicants for union-covered jobs who make it to interviews with a hiring manager every year will come from traditionally underrepresented groups. Plus, a $50,000 budget for the company’s diversity committee.

This was actually the last thing I worked on at SI. I’m so proud of the work our union did to earn a contract that sets a stronger future for SI by protecting its wonderful journalism and creating a more equitable pay structure, particularly for those who have been underpaid.

Anti-union town halls at liberal companies are so funny bc bosses are like "hi I'm CTO white guy and CEO rich lady and we are ✨allies✨ who want you to hear from our hearts that we are NOT anti-union 😤 we just fight every union our workers form bc you don't know any better 🙃"

Dr. King was a union man — and it's in his honor we declare eternal hostility against the interrelated "Triple Evils" of poverty, racism, and militarism.

In 2020, when race was happening, the NYT granted Juneteenth as a holiday for all employees. 2 years later, only non-union employees can take it — a union busting tactic designed to scare before they vote. What happened to recognizing the significance of the day?
