If defense contractors didn’t dominate our foreign policy; and Big Pharma and health insurance companies didn’t dominate our healthcare; and fossil fuel companies didn’t dominate our energy policies, wouldn’t we all be better off?

Yes we would! We need a people-planet- centered system instead of the current where people and planet are at the service of a large-scale business sysem. Question is: what is it we need to do to shape a new earth?

I wish we could do more to help people imagine these things because with the current reality it's difficult for many to conceive of a better future.

As a young econ major at UBC I realized this: 'Wow, the whole U.S. economy is a keiretsu based on 3 tent-poles / sectors: - Autos/oil - big pharma - defence And for all of the accretive utility to the economy of the latter products? We might as well build pyramids in the sand.

I wish you'd consider speaking to the absolute failure of markets to protect people. We've spent billions on vaccine and the private enterprise failures are everywhere. Big pharma makes $1000 a second on vaccines, but no one holds them accountable for results. Medicare for all

To move away from the "everything has to make a profit" motive. Away from Capitalism towards a caring socialism model , where All are involved and have rights to food , healthcare , housing & education ext.

Oh and we wouldn’t be able to afford gas or to heat our homes. We’d be stuck at home and we’d be cold.

Well, yes, probably, when you put it that way. But many voters in the USA have boundless respect for anyone who makes a buck, and that’s the sort of person they want making government policy.
