I love UBI because it's a direct rebuke of trickle down economics Should be on every progressive agenda

UBI has progressive and libertarian models I'm sure Milton Friedman's model was the libertarian model designed to slash the social safety net An UBI funded through a progressive tax system with a living wage is a direct rebuke of the trickle down philosophy imo.

Yanis Varoufakis and Stephanie Kelton (both renowned economists) had a conversation about this. They deal with the funding method of a UBI and with the effects it has on the macro economy when it is done right or wrong. You can watch it here.

Friedman only supported UBI as a replacement for social programs.

It can also be used as a way to pacify low standards of living. If people are already making a base amount the capitalists can argue that they dont have to pay as much for work. Or in yangs proposal it can also be funded by regressive taxes which validates trickle down
