OMFG, the founders did no such thing. They met to create a world where all WHITE MEN could own property and be protected for it. Also, growing up in Philly in the 70's I can assure you it had the most corrupt police force in the country and likely still does.
Left-wingers revising our history is no less unbalanced than right-wingers revising our history. The Dec of Independence isn’t what they embodied; it’s the codification of principles for every generation to try to actualize more fully. What do you think it is we’re doing today?

What I wish we were doing today is moving on from white supremacist policies that got us where we are now. We also have the chance to re-imagine everything. Referring back to the principles of white mostly slave-owning property owners is not exactly the path I imagine is useful.
