Don't let the media get away with framing it the wrong way: Maduro was democratically elected. The same can't be said for Guaido.

extremely disappointing that you can't see this obvious imperial statecraft campaign for what it is. no one elected guaido.

Nothing to be disappointed by. Our having been bad does not make Maduro good.

Yes, but it does not give us the right to decide who is or isn't a part of their leadership. If we accept that the US can recognize whoever it wants, then anti-imperialistic causes go out the window.

I don’t necessarily disagree with that. But recognizing that someone was elected and inviting them to the White House is two different things. Trump would not be supporting Maduro out of a love of democracy.

I guess I'll agree there, that Trump's motives/goals are definitely detrimental to us. My main issue was that it seemed that you were more okay with us recognizing Guaido rather than Maduro, but as long as you're with us on anti-imperialism, we all gucci.

Yes. Thank you. I opened a can of worms that allowed for a lot of projection onto what I was saying. Clumsy of me. I was simply talking about Trump’s motives. I didn’t roll out of bed this morning having turned into a neoliberal during the night...
