A rich woman in my town personally paid for & packed all the food to feed dozens of homeless veterans for 2 months as they were quarantined in local hotels. Now they’re moving to perm housing... and she made “Welcome Home” baskets for them.pic.twitter.com/92U1taOq7h

...she packed food today for 49 formerly homeless veterans. Incl home-baked desserts she made. Marianne is right - thank God for folks who can afford to help - you can’t even recognize these men after a couple weeks of being safe, clean & fed. Freedom isn’t free.

Ok, so how to we reform they system, Marianne? Good candidates get in, they become powerful lawmakers, so lobbyists surround them and seduce them with payoffs to vote a certain way with bribes, and this makes them rich, and they retire or leave Congress with millionaire status.

I have a different theory: Good candidates learn they must waste half their time just fundraising, just to get reelected. They want to pass progressive legislation but it takes longer than two years. So they have a devil’s bargain. Take the money or get voted out. 2/n

Also, they should be running to become public servants, to serve their country, not for selfish reasons like to get rich or richer. But if they are weak and lured into financial perks, then at least take bribes from lobbyists who align with their values. Where is their integrity?
