Yeah so many kids stop reading as soon as their English teacher stops setting them homework. This aliteracy sets forth a wave of aging pseudo-intellectual hipsters that think Comedians are the modern philosophers of our time and Candace Owen's is very clever.

It’s amazing how little literature children are being taught to read today. It’s like it’s been edged out of the curriculum...!

History is important, but the question is, from whose perspective?
-
Certain things, like whether or not there was slavery and when, aren’t a matter of “perspective.” American children should be brought up with a clear-eyed view of the wrongs that have been committed by the US as well as all the good we’ve stood for. Both are real & both matter.

History and civics are still taught but have been rewritten for the woke society.
-
Of course they’re taught, but not with the same level of support. 11 states don’t even require half a year of civics education. People who don’t learn about the Bill of Rights when they’re children, grow up to be adults who don’t know to be horrified when it’s under assault.

The fact that so many Americans don’t know the difference between neoliberalism and socialism prove this correct.

There were also classes for students w/interests in specific vocations which gave options other than college after graduation. I worked w/a boy in MI w/severe learning disabilities & school was so painful for him. He "just wanted to be a farmer" & could tell you all @ farming.

I am trying to problem solving this one. I’m thinking of teaching children to grow their own food as a summer activity at the school. I was heartbroken to see Mr. Hennessy’s garden my kids fav teacher is nothing more than a sign. There’s the space just waiting. Outdoor=COVID OK

This academic straight-jacket serves to keep students from thinking for themselves. It's also meant to sift out those who excel in math & science with the idea that they may produce some military innovation, drug or other such marketable product for the benefit of the economy
