1/ Incremental policy changes are not enough. There should be a national police academy with universal standards for policing everywhere. The training should be much longer than that it is now and should include non-violent conflict resolution techniques.

Good suggestions! Police should be hired & fired by the people of the community they serve. They should also live there. Otherwise they’re an occupying force that’s perpetually jumpy & scared of everybody and they terrify people

It’s true; Some politicians aren’t using their visibility for the good of this country. And some are. We do have to put the onus on ourselves because these folks wouldn’t be in their seats without us putting them there. We need to take responsibility for who we hire.
