We must also begin by imagining a new constitution not drenched in the sins of slavery and misogyny. We don’t just need new amendments to old structures of violence- we need to write together preambles to a new world. New wine can’t go in old wine skins
It’s not. 13th, 14th and 19th amendments. Denigrating the genius of the US Constitution is not the way forward.

Genius yes but for who and to what degree? It’s a larger conversation and something I hold lightly- Chile’s recent decision to hold a constitutional convention partly due to their constitution being to tied down to the Pinochet years is part of what inspired the thought.

Usually I'm behind you 100% but genius is a bit of a stretch. This isn't the 1700s. Time for an upgrade because its obvious some things need to be spelled out for all the people abusing these "rights" in some very twisted ways.
