In the interest of his country, Mark Zuckerberg should shut down Facebook until after the election. We lived without it before and we can survive a few months without it. So might our democracy. #FacebookTakeABreak

Horrible idea. Like it or not it’s a system of communication. We are not China. We are not Iran.

I didn’t say the government should shut it down. I suggested that a man who makes billions of dollars from a completely amoral business model with undue influence on our elections might consider doing something good for his country.

Are you basing this on the idea that Russians influenced the election in 2016? Or is there something else that you're considering here? Sincerely would like to understand where you're coming from. 🙏

I’m ok if this is about stopping social media because of the negative effects it has on humanity. But if it’s about censorship, well, then we have to big picture this.

It’s never good to shut down a mode of communication. Ever. Not in a free country, anyway. You can’t be serious.

In a "free" country, businesses should be able to make their own decisions. She is not suggesting an outside force shut them down. There are so many other ways to communicate.

I always think you’re wrong, but then I stop and think about what you’re saying. If this was Zuckerbergs decision, it wouldn’t be his worst.

We should be cautious in imposing our own moral judgement onto others. Plus Facebook is nowhere near the roots of the problems of today.
