Tribalism, nationalism & group think are all ego. Period. People are hard wired to seek validation, needing reflections of themselves looking for echo chambers. Cept it is only once you find who it is that you are apart from the crowd, that you find everyone else.

Justice is global and playing into patriotism is a trap. It's psychologically easier to build solidarity in the presence of an out-group. Playing into patriotism solely for that reason is manipulation.

Right, patriot being rooted in the concept of "fatherland" is already a nationalistic bent. But creating a sense of commonality across the entire demos is something that we need in order to cement humanistic policies and constraints into the power structure
