Wasn’t Washington an officer in the British Army? He had a unique (and well written) viewpoint about how the colonials were treated as a subclass. Less officer pay, higher taxes, mandated trade. A crown can lose legitimacy. Monarchy as govt was stale. GW was CEO of a new world
