I don’t see that as the point at all. The misogyny is still there. How is the white woman any more privileged than the white man? He, in fact, is more privileged than her. And how is demeaning any group a step on the path to where we want to be?
Stereotypes are dangerous. Every group has a shadow side, but identifying an entire group by their shadow is where the greatest evil comes from. The fact that it starts out as a “joke” just makes it even more dangerous. Trump does that. We shouldn’t. Just my opinion…
Actually, racist/toxic behavior IS a universal shadow side. And I do not believe “white women” should be lumped together in a group and blamed for anything. Do I feel this particularly strongly because I’m a white woman? Of course I do. But there are jerks & saints in every group
Respectfully Marianne, jokes like the ones discussed here are safe, gentle ways for people to blow off steam about groups whose idiosyncrasies bother them. When I see one that rubs me the wrong way, I ask myself why to make sure it's not me they're talking about
