The answer is not to reopen the economy; it's to freeze the economy. The government should provide everyone with the economic wherewithal to survive this period without leaving home. It's criminal to make people have to choose between their livelihood and their health.

I agree, for the high risk population, but I'm not sure what we gain from freezing the entire economy. We can't wait out the virus, and freezing the economy is not viable long term. At this point, I'm not sure what we're accomplishing by maintaining all current restrictions.
What we're accomplishing? Really...? That's like saying to someone standing with you on the side of a busy freeway, "I don't know what we're accomplishing by not just trying to cross."

I mean, in the sense that the virus will stay there regardless. If the virus could go away after a few months social distancing, I'd be right there with you. I feel like we're just delaying the inevitable spread, which if the medical infrastructure is in place, doesn't help much.
