At a certain point, all the adults alive at a certain point are referred to as “that generation.”

Perhaps a different word choice would have been beneficial here. It sounds like you’re pointing a finger at a particular age group. HUMANS across many generations (used the way you are using it) have exhibited what you describe. The human condition isn’t new.
