Conservatives tend to emphasize more of America has done right & progressives tend to emphasize more of what America has done wrong. The higher truth lies in realizing both: loving our ideals and possibilities enough to be brutally honest with ourselves about what has gone wrong.

That is called being blinded by conservative propaganda... America arguably has done more harm than good on the world stage post-WWII. Some good examples are the: -Korean war -Vietnam war -Iraq/Afghanistan war -War on drugs All we know how to do is wage war and kill dreams.
No high minded conservative or high minded liberal would call any of those things examples of what America got right.

That's not my point. I'm sorry I probably wasn't clear enough. I was listing all the evil we've perpetrated in the name of democracy. My point was just that America as a country skews more authoritarian and evil than the average American wants to believe.
